This kit prevents a runaway carrier that could damage the quarter panel while in transit. In the event that the primary latch fails, this kit only allows the carrier to open approx 3/8" before the secondary latch stops it!
Kit includes latch, striker plate and four longer bolts to bolt into the carrier and tailgate. The OEM bolts on the primary striker plate can be used to attach the secondary striker plate.
It is highly recommended to install this kit along with the Spare Tire Adapter Kit (STA-KIT). Hotratz - Secondary Safety Latch Kit (SSL-KIT) is adjustable to work with or without the STA-KIT sold separately.
